VIJAYAWADA: The three-day silver jubilee celebrations of NTR University of Health Sciences will begin from November 1, said its vice-chancellor I V Rao. The university which started with 24 colleges and 2,000 students in 1986 now has 340 colleges with around 25,000 students.On the first day of the celebrations, Union minister for human resource development D Purandeswari will unveil the statue of her father and former chief minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, while health minister D L Ravindra Reddy will inaugurate the week-long medical exhibition.The entry fee to the exhibition for adults is Rs 5 and for children it is Rs 2, while the entry for schoolchildren is free.MP Lagadapati Rajagopal and industrialist Gokaraju Gangaraju will be the chief guests.On the second day, former vice-chancellors, registrars, best teachers and university toppers in all fields of medical sciences will be felicitated and awarded medals.The university journal will also be released on the occasion.Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will be the chief guest at the valedictory function.University registrar T Venugopala Rao and rector Ramanamma were also present.
