One killed in Vaishnodevi landslide

Jammu: A Vaishnodevi pilgrim was killed and seven others injured due to landslides enroute the cave shrine, official sources said on Monday.

A group of pilgrims were waiting for their turn for darshan at gate number one of Vaishnodevi Bhawan, when several sharp-edged rocks rolled down the hill due to heavy rains on Sunday night.

Four persons, including a woman, were injured in the landslide, they said adding that one of them, Rajinder Kumar was shifted to GMC hospital where he succumbed to his

injuries.

Another landslide occurred at Andhkuwari enroute the cave shrine and four persons, including a girl from Amristar, were injured. All the injured have been hospitalised.

Meanwhile, rocks and boulders have been cleared from the route and the yatra has resumed.
