One policeman killed in Naxal attack in Jharkhand

Ranchi: One head constable was killed and several policemen were injured in a Naxal attack in Chatra area of Jharkhand on Wednesday.

The attack comes a day after the results of the Jharkhand Assembly elections have been announced. The BJP has registered an impressive win in the elections and will form a majority government for the forst time after the creation of the state in the year 2000.

This Naxal attack is the second this month in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. On December 1, 14 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed at Chintagufa in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. They were attacked during an ongoing anti-Naxal operation.

The personnel killed included an assistant commandant and a deputy commandant. The 223 Battalion was conducting an area-domination exercise in Kasanpara village of the district in the south Bastar region when they entered into an encounter with the Naxals.
