The recent launch of the new Oryza spa in Nungambakkam was quite a highbrow affair. With strains of lounge music played live by Stephen Devassy, top models flown in from Mumbai and wine and cheese doing the rounds, this event went all out. With the launch of a renovated building with spa rooms that spread over a massive 7200 sq feet, it was obvious that celebrations were in order. Latha Mohan, CEO, Oryza, worked the room with full gusto, and revealed, “The architect who designed this for us is actually a client who used to come to our Kanya parlour from her school days.” The highlight of the event was an exclusive hair and scalp care centre from the world renowned Kerastase Institute and skin care from Keraskin Esthetics. With a video of how the models’ hair looked the previous day (before the treatment) and a ramp showcase of their shiny tresses after treatment, guests got a firsthand perspective of the specialised hair treatments on offer. One can also look forward to indulging in other forms of pampering such as foot reflexology, lymphatic massages and the extended Foot and Hand Spa menu including the anti-cellulite mocha experience for the ladies. So what is Mohan most excited about? She beams, “The pre-natal and post-natal massages that we start on Monday.” She adds, “It’s always nice to offer a new service, but it’s even better when you are the first in the city to do so.”
