Mumbai: A special screening of Irrfan Khan starrer 'Paan Singh Tomar' will be held for Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni in New Delhi.
The screening has been organised at the Mahadev Auditorium for Soni, who will be accompanied by director Tigmanshu Dhulia as well as the lead actor. 'Paan Singh Tomar' is based on the real life of a sportsman turned rebel from Chambal.
Tomar, a national steeplechase champion for seven years, quit the sport and the
army to become a 'Bandit King' of the Chambal Valley. Produced by UTV Motion Pictures 'Paan Singh Tomar', starring Mahie Gill alongwith Irrfan, released on March 2 and has emerged a sleeper hit.
"We are very heartened with the Box Office and critical acclaim the film has got and we think it is an Oscar contender, no less. We are very proud of the recognition that the Ministry and Ambikaji has given to our work and commitment," Ronnie Screwvala, UTV CEO and Managing Director, Walt Disney Company India, said in a statement here.
