Paid holiday on October 13

PUDUCHERRY: In connection with the by-poll,   October 13 has been declared a paid holiday by the government for factories, industries and other business establishments, in Indira Nagar constituency. This includes casual workers who have registered themselves as voters in the constituency.  A circular issued by the Commissioner of Labour and Chief Inspector of factories and Boilers, G Malarkannan, stated that any deviation would attract penal provisions under Section 135B(3) of the Representation of people’s act 1951 and Section 25 of Negotiable Instruments Act 1881.Dry days from Oct 11 to 13  In view of polling the government has declared dry day from Oct 11 to 13 in Puducherry  district. According to a press release issued  by R Anbazhagan, Deputy Commissioner (Excise)  all toddy, arrack, IMFL shops  and bar would be closed during that period.
