KOCHI: The three-day long painting camp for children organised by the District Council for Child Welfare and the Heartlight Association concluded on Sunday. Prizes will be presented to 20 selected students from the camp on May 30 by the director of Kerala Kalapeedam T Kaladharan at the Children’s Theatre. Over 80 students of the 12-17 age group took part in the camp. “The talent of the students went far above our expectations. The works of the students were excellent in quality and many of them were on par with the paintings done by professional artists. The response too has been overwhelming. We are planning to conduct camps during every vacation”, said K K Prakash, the president of the Heartlight Association.The camp saw sessions in cartooning, oil painting, acrylic painting and in water colours. Cartoonist Balachandran, artist Jayaraj, writer K L Mohana Varma and K Venkateshwaran attended the function.
