HYDERABAD: PCC vice president and former minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy has threatened to resign from the Congress after the budget session of the Assembly if the party high command does not accept his request for replacing chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy with someone else.Talking with reporters after meeting PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana and deputy chief minister Damodar Rajanarasimha along with family welfare minister DL Ravindra Reddy in the Assembly lobbies here on Monday, Peddireddy warned that if the party did not change the chief minister, people might vote for a change in the 2014 elections.“The high command had committed a mistake by appointing Kiran Kumar Reddy as the chief minister. But, instead of helping the Congress win the byelections, he led the party to disaster. It is time the party high command made amends for the mistakes it had committed in the past and appoint someone else as chief minister,’’ he said.Ravindra Reddy said he was planing to visit Delhi very soon and if the party high command gave him an appointment he would explain the political situation of the state.Meanwhile, former minister and senior leader JC Diwakar Reddy said the high command would not replace the chief minister on the basis of complaints from someone. The Congress fought the Kovur byelection without preparation and paid the penalty, he said and hoped that the party would put up a better performance in the next clutch of byelections. The Rayalaseema leader said it was high time the party high command took a decision on Telangana and reiterated his demand for a Rayala-Telangana state in case of state’s bifurcation.
