BANGALORE: Good news for tourists who want to spend some time at Harangi reservoir. The state government has entrusted a private consultancy to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) to develop a garden and provide the necessary amenities at the reservoir.The proposed garden, on the lines of Brindavan Gardens near Krishnaraja Sagar Reservoir, will be an added value to the Harangi reservoir which is known as the treasure of quiet, calm and gentle breeze tourist spot in Kushalnagar.Around 600 people from various parts of the state as well as other states visit the Harangi reservoir. The proposed amenities are expected to increase the number of visitors to this tourist location. “We have entrusted a private agency to prepare a detailed project report. We expect it to be submitted within two weeks,” said M A Sadiq, managing director, Cauvery Neeravari Nigama.As of now, there are three well-furnished rooms at the Harangi Reservoir Guest House. According to reliable sources, the Cauvery Neeravari Nigama may embark on to provide lodging facility for the tourists who wish to spend a night or two at the reservoir to enjoy the serene and picturesque beauty. “The government has sanctioned Rs 4 crore for the development of a garden and provide other amenities,” said Sadiq.The Cauvery Neeravari Nigama has decided to float tenders as soon as it receives the DPR from the private agency. The garden is expected to be developed on 30 acres. “We have discussed with the horticulture department authorities at Lalbagh in Bangalore for the supply of saplings. We will take measures not only to provide water fountains but also repair the defunct ones,” he said adding that Cauvery Neeravari Nigama would place a request for more funds if the allotted Rs 4 crore would not be sufficient for the development of the park.
