New Delhi: Hailing from a small town, Mallika Sherawat made it to the big city Mumbai all alone and entered into Bollywood without any godfather. The actress has been vocal about her father's angst against her for joining Bollywood and ruffled few feathers when she called India a regressive and depressing country for women during one of her interviews at Cannes last year. And, it seems her words have reverberated not just in India but in the West as well, as Mallika has been invited for a debate at Oxford University.
Mallika will participate in the debate 'This House Believes Gender Exists to Oppress' at the Oxford Union. Considered as one of the most prestigious debating societies in the world, Mallika will speak along side 'Blurred Lines' model Jessi M'Bengue on gender issues.
Mallika tweeted, "Getting ready for a debate at The historic Oxford Union where presidents like Carter, Nixon nd Reagan hv debated!"
The actress, who is currently working on the film 'Dirty Politics', is in the US and is busy preparing for the big debate to be held on February 27. Apart from the accent, let's hope that Mallika this time around gives much more to the audience to take back home from the debate session.
