BANGALORE: The PU lecturers on strike set April 12 as the deadline to the state government to address their long pending demands like removing discrepancies in salaries besides giving them professional recognition.Meanwhile, the lecturers will report to II PUC evaluation duty from Monday. In a meeting here on Sunday, members of the Karnataka State Pre-University College Teachers Association (KSPCTA) discussed the matter with Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Vishveshwar Hegde Kageri. The minister assured that their problems would be looked into before the mentioned deadline.“For matters that I can directly solve, such as giving professional recognition, I will convene meetings with the respective departments. For financial decisions such as removing wage discrepancies, I will have to talk to the CM,” said Kageri.President of KSPCTA Thimmaiah Purle said that the deadline was set to test the will of the government. “The lecturers will report to evaluation duty as there have been remarks that we are not bothered about the future of students. However, if the government fails to act before Thursday, we will boycott the evaluations from Friday. The government has to show that it is willing to solve our problems,” he said.
