Pune Teen Kills Mom In Her Sleep With Boyfriend’s Help To Hide Unauthorised Cash Withdrawal
Police explained that the teenager and her boyfriend had spent the money they withdrew and were anxious about the girl's mother discovering the transactions

An 18-year-old girl along with her boyfriend killed her mother while she was sleeping to hide an unauthorised cash withdrawal. The duo later made it look like the 45-year-old woman died after a fall in the bathroom.

According to a report on the Indian Express, police arrested the daughter of Mangal Sanjay Gokhale, resident of Rajshree Nagar in Vadgaon Sheri, Yoshita, and her Yash Shitole, 23.

A Class 12 dropout, Yoshita, and Shitole, who has completed an Industrial Training Institute course, called an ambulance to their home on April 1 and rushed Gokhale to Pune’s Sassoon General Hospital.

They concocted a story and told the doctors that Gokhale had sustained a head injury after she fell in the bathroom. She was pronounced dead by the doctors and the matter was reported to the Chandannagar police station.

“After the autopsy, doctors opined that the death had occurred due to an injury to the head. We had some suspicions about the story narrated by the girl… We spoke to their relatives and nothing suspicious was revealed initially. A couple of days later, some relatives took the girl to Mumbai to stay with them. Meanwhile, we were in touch with the relatives,” Senior Inspector Manisha Patil, in-charge of the police station, was quoted as saying by the media outlet.

Inspector (Crime) Pandit Rejitwad told the Indian Express that the police conducted a thorough examination of the injuries. He noted that while there were discrepancies in the account provided by the pair, these were considered fragile at best.

“Our investigative teams explored various angles. We had to handle the investigation with sensitivity due to the presence of a grieving family and a young girl,” he emphasised.

Senior Inspector Patil elaborated, stating, “Our investigation uncovered several visits by the girl’s boyfriend to the residence, along with suspicious transactions totaling Rs 2 lakh from the mother’s account over time. On Monday, we initially questioned the girl and subsequently her boyfriend, leading to a clear understanding of the events.”

Patil explained that Yoshita and Shitole had depleted the money they withdrew and were anxious about Gokhale discovering the transactions. “The pair devised a scheme to murder her. They silenced her with a scarf while she slept and then struck her with a hammer. They attempted to stage the incident as a result of an accidental fall. Both have been apprehended for murder and tampering with evidence.”
