HYDERABAD: Ch Ramakanth, an HSBC employee, was busy filling the ticket cancellation form in front of a reservation counter at the Secunderabad station. A few minutes later, he cancelled his reservation for Visakhapatnam. It was a familiar situation at all reservation counters on Thursday, as passengers made a beeline to cancel their reservations or reschedule their travel plans, due to the rail roko call given by the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC).“I thought the train services might resume by evening. But officials have cancelled all train services in the state. What can I do except cancelling my reservation?” asked Ramakanth. The South Central Railway cancelled all train services in the state while rescheduling timings of various long-distance trains.Sitting at platform no 1, A Pradeep Kumar, a civil engineer working in a private firm, was busy conversing on the mobile with his family members, informing about his late arrival. “I got a reservation on the Nizamuddin Express one month back and the journey was scheduled for Thursday. I was unaware about the rail roko. I arrived at the station to catch the train, scheduled for departure at 1.30 p.m from Secunderabad. But I found out that all trains were cancelled and I am stranded here,” fumed Pradeep.Meanwhile, railway officials have set up five special counters to inform passengers about the latest information on train services. They also put up signboards of revised train timings.There was relief for some passengers as the APSRTC operated bus services to Vijaywada, Visakhapatnam, Nizamabad, Warangal and other places in the state. “After finding all train services had been cancelled to Vijayawada, I saw the RTC was running special buses from the station. I got the ticket to at `160 than the regular price of `180,” said L Venkatram.
