The Rajasthan Election department is aiming to set a new record in voter turnout in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state.

The new initiatives include mobile apps, caller tunes and use of social networking sites.
Rajasthan Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Jain said the voter turnout in the last Assembly elections was 75 per cent, mainly because of the unique initiative - Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).
He directed department officials to make efforts to breaks this record in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing a state-level workshop on SVEEP today, Jain asked the officers involved in the awareness programmes to carry out maximum activities across the state to create awareness for voting, particularly among youths and women.
He said the department will launch mobile apps and caller tunes on March 19 to motivate people to vote.
He asked the officers to run extensive awareness campaign and activities in schools, colleges and other institutions in all the districts. Drawing and slogan competitions, rallies, debates and other activities are to be conducted under the programme, he said.
