New Delhi: Vishwas Patil's 'Rajjo' is based on the life of a prostitute, but the director has ensured that no inappropriate dialogues or bold scenes are included in the film.
"I always wanted to make a family film, and you can see this in my film as well, although it is about a prostitute who tries hard to survive. I did not use any abusive language and hot scenes in the film," Patil said in a statement.
The director wanted his debut film to be a complete family entertainer.
"My priority was to make a family film rather than a film for a particular age group. I can assure you that you can watch this film with your family," he said.
At a time when item numbers seem to be an essential feature of films today, 'Rajjo' has none.
"Music director Uttam Singh decided to swim against the tide and resisted including such songs in the soundtrack of 'Rajjo'," said a source close to the film.
Produced by Four Pillars Entertainment, 'Rajjo' stars Kangana Ranaut, Paras Arora, Prakash Raj, Mahesh Manjrekar and Jaya Prada.
Kangana Ranaut says she has been training in classical Indian dance for the past five years and she is glad that in 'Rajjo' she has got a chance to show her moves.
"I have been learning classical dance for a long time and it's just a coincidence that I got to do this film. I have been learning it for a reason that someday I will get to do kathak," Kangana told IANS.
She has used her kathak skills for one particular song in 'Rajjo', and says it's an art that can't be learnt in a month.
"I have been learning classical dance for a while now, for four to five years. A song in the climax is full of kathak that you can't learn it in a week or a month. You have to rehearse for it for a long time."
"My director (Vishwas Patil) gave me all the research material when I signed the film," Kangana revealed at the music launch of the film.
"Besides, I also made two-three visits to Nagpada, where my character in the film is based. I talked to some of the courtesans there to understand their character, their state of mind, how do they think, what kind of life they live, and what kind of places they live in...," said the National Award winning actress.
'Rajjo' is likely to face a stiff competition from 'Ram Leela', which is releasing on the same day.
