Raman is VTI council honorary president

Justice A Raman, a retired judge of the High Court, is appointed as honorary president of the council of the Victoria Technical Institute (VTI) on Anna Salai, Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar was informed on Wednesday.

When a writ plea challenging a GO appointing officers in the government departments as members of the VTI council came up before the judge, Additional Government Pleader P Sanjay Gandhi produced a GO dated Sep 5, which stated the appointment of Justice Raman as the honorary president with immediate effect. Gandhi also produced another GO of even date, which appointed the Joint Secretary, Finance Department, as one of the government members on the council of the management of the VTI with immediate effect.
