Pondicherry: N Rangasamy is likely to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Pondicherry for the second successive term on Thursday.
An official source in Pondicherry said while Rangasamy would take charge on May 18, other members of his cabinet would be sworn in on a later date.
Rangasamy has already presented a letter to Lt Governor MM Lakhera staking claim to form the government following his unanimous election as the Congress Legislature Party leader.
Under the Union Territory Act, the President of India has to appoint the Chief Minister and council of ministers.
But there was no announcement on the issue.
Meanwhile, Rangasamy along with the Pondicherry PCC leader P Shanmugham and the General Secartery of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) V Narayanasamy have left for Delhi.
The former chief minister V Vathilingam was summoned to Delhi last night by AICC.
These leaders are to hold discussions with the AICC to finalise the ministry, which usually is a six-member cabinet, including the CM.
The Congress which has 10 members on its own in the 30-member Assembly is forming the minority ministry with the outside support of allies DMK, which has having 7 members, PMK with two members and the Communist Party of India with one member.
