BHUBANESWAR: Real Estate Developers’ Association (REDA) on Sunday announced launch of a trust to award commoners who have striven to make a difference in society or have achieved excellence in their respective spheres of work. The first charitable trust of the State, to be instituted by a group of business organisations, would be formally unveiled at the REDA Home and Decor exhibition-cum-trade fair on November 6. The prominent real estate developers body of Orissa will institute three awards in different categories, each carrying a cash prize of ` 50,000. The awards would be given on the basis of individual excellence, social service and individual enterprise in rural areas. The recipients would be selected by a jury of eminent persons. According to REDA former president Anup Mohapatra, the awardees would be commoners who had brought about positive changes in the lives of people in their small ways. The builders’ organisation is also set to launch skill development programmes for construction workers in the State. While negotiations with CII are on, REDA is working on a tie-up with Centurion University for the purpose. The Home and Decor fair this year would be hosted at the Exhibition Grounds here from November 3 to 7. More than 250 stalls would be erected in around five air conditioned hangars. “The fair is aimed to provide one-stop solution to the housing aspirations of the people, bringing together real estate developers, housing and construction companies and dealers of lifestyle goods and household appliances,” said REDA president Pradipta Kumar Biswasroy. Scheduled to be inaugurated by Finance Minister Prafulla Ghadei, the fair would also host a series of seminars and workshops on issues like tall buildings and urban habitat and incorporation of green design in building construction. REDA secretary Sanjay Jha and treasurer JP Singh were present.
