HYDERABAD: Clad in a pale-blue formal shirt and with a clean-shaven face, Gali Janardhana Reddy of Obulapuram Mining Company, the key accused in the illegal mining case, appeared on the small screen and was quite obedient while answering the magistrate’s queries.Throughout the short-duration video conference, Janardhana Reddy and his brother-in-law B V Srinivas Reddy, who are lodged in the Chanchalguda central prison, stood up with folded hands as they answered the magistrate.Prison officials produced the Reddys before special CBI magistrate B Naga Maruthi Sharma through videoconferencing facility at around 10 am. Sources said the prison officials opted for video-conference due to security reasons.The magistrate, sitting in the video-conference cell located on the ground floor of the Nampally court, asked the accused, “How are you?” Janardhana Reddy said in a polite manner that they were happy in jail. The magistrate also made enquiries about their health.Sridhar, Chanchalguda prison jailer, submitted a brief report on the health of the accused and other matters to the court.Later, the magistrate extended their judicial remand by 14 days till October 17.
