KOZHIKODE: The political and organisational report presented at the 20th party congress explains how some of the Left Front partners also joined in the attack against the CPM after the left front’s failure in West Bengal Assembly Polls.“After the electoral debacle in West Bengal, there have been discordant voices among the Left Front partners, some of them have publicly put the blame wholly on the CPM for the electoral reverses. “Such criticisms were levelled when there is a severe attack on the CPM, killing large number of comrades. We have seen vacillations on the part of some of the Left parties earlier too at the time of severe attack by the ruling classes,” criticises the political-organisational report. The CPM asks  its cadre to take the criticism patiently so that left unity must be maintained and strengthened. Referring to issues within the Left Front during the Singur and Nandigram struggles, the report notes that the party could contain the difference of opinion within Bengal only. “The national level coordination continued without any difficulties,” notes the report. The report also stresses the need for improving ties between the CPM and CPI not only at the national level but at the state level too. “It is crucial for strengthening and broadening left unity,” says the report.  “We have emphasised the building of the left and democratic alliances as the real alternative in the political resolution. In order to accomplish this we have to further strengthen and broaden the Left unity”, it observes.
