CHENNAI: The TN State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has issued summons to Kumaresan, an inspector attached to the Vathlagundu police station, for violating the human rights of advocate A Abdul Rahman of Pudupet in Chennai. The summons issued by SHRC acting-chairman K Baskaran required the cop to appear before him on May 15.In his complaint to the SHRC, Abdul Rahman, also vice-president of the TN Advocates Association, submitted that in recognition of his intensive social service, more particularly to the local Jumma Masjid (Pallivasal) and a school run by it, he was appointed by the TN Wakf  Board as the chairman of the Pallivasal and correspondent of the school, in November last year. Due to his efforts, the school was upgraded as a high school and the number of students steeply increased. While so, the persons, who manned the Pallivasal and removed from the post by the TN Wakf Board on account of commission of irregularities, started giving trouble and putting obstacles to the progress of the school and the Pallivasal. One among them Peer Mohammed, after becoming the vice-president of the Vathlagundu town panchayat, was the main person behind all this. Inspector Kumaresan, who stood behind him, registered false cases against Rahman whenever the latter visited the town. He was keen on registering FIRs against Rahman and putting him behind bars. All this amounted to violation of his human rights, Rahman contended in his complaint. And the SHRC issued summons to the inspector.
