WARANGAL: Minister for information technology Ponnala Lakshmaiah said Rs 2.57 crore has been earmarked for taking up alternative measures to tackle water crisis in summer.Reviewing drinking water and electricity supply with senior officials here on Friday,he directed the officials to take steps to supply water on a war footing in problem areas.Stating they had so far identified 1295 private water sources in the district, he said they had taken 205 sources on lease.The minister said the officials were directed to take up flushing of 1202 borewells which had dried up with in 15 days. The officials had also identified 330 wells which need to be deepened. Lakshmaiah said that 47 tankers had been pressed into service to supply water in problem areas.He said uninterrupted power should be provided to drinking water schemes. Officials should take necessary steps to ensure that the panchayats cleared the arrears due to Transco.The new KV sub stations should be commissioned by April 23, the minister added.District collector Rahul Bojja said steps were being taken to promote Srivari cultivation in the next kharif. Proposals had been forwarded to the government to sanction Rs 106 crore for paying compensation to farmers Chief whip G Venkataramana Reddy, municipal commissioner Vivek Yadav and joint collector Sanjeevaiah were among those present.
