The new Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo have a heart rate sensor, a pedometer and various tools to measure exercise, sleep and stress levels. The low-resolution, 2-megapixel camera on the Gear 2 is being moved to the main body; it was on the strap on the original Gear. The Gear 2 Neo has no camera and is slightly larger, but lighter. The Gear 2 Neo is also cheaper than the Gear 2.

The Gear 2 and Gear 2 allow users to accept or ignore incoming calls and messages, and providing instant notification options based on a user's activity and habits.

Users can now express their mood or coordinate with their outfit with modern and sophisticated strap colour options including Charcoal Black, Gold Brown and Wild Orange for Gear 2 and Charcoal Black, Mocha Grey and Wild Orange for Gear 2 Neo.
