THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The second phase of preparing the National Population Register (NPR) began in the district on Friday with Census officials enumerating Governor M O H Farook and his family members. The second phase activities had already been started in the districts of Kottayam, Palakkad, Kannur, Kozhikode and Ernakulam. It is compulsory for all the residents in the country to get registered with NPR, Census officials said.Those who have already enrolled with some other Registrars of UIDAI such as Akshaya Kendra, Keltron, LIC etc will also have to register again under NPR. The field work for collecting demographic particulars of residents was completed in May 2010.The ongoing second phase includes the collection of biometric particulars of the residents. Census officials have requested the public to attend the NPR camps in their respective areas. Two camps will be held in each locality. For those who miss both the camps a district-level camp will also be held, according to a statement by the Census Directorate.
