BELGAUM: The stray dog menace has returned to haunt the city and surrounding areas. In the latest of the canine attack cases, a five-year-old girl playing at Vijaynagar near here, was attacked by a pack of dogs on Thursday. The dogs pulled out the right ear of the girl, identified as Radhika. She also suffered serious injuries in her head. Radhika, daughter of a watchman, was immediately rushed to the district hospital, where her condition is said to be serious.Radhika’s aunt Doddawwa, a witness to the incident, told Express that the girl was playing near a site where a new house is being constructed. “Seven dogs which came there, suddenly attacked her, causing her to fall. The dogs started to pull out flesh from her body”. Doddawwa said she raised alarm and people from the surrounding areas rushed to rescue the girl.It can be recalled that stray dogs had attacked children in the city a few weeks ago prompting the Belgaum City Corporation to shift the canine out the city.
