MUMBAI: Praising Aamir Khan for his maiden television show Satyameva Jayate, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray lambasted Karnataka for banning the dubbed telecast of the show in the state. Satyameva Jayate is banned from telecast in Karnataka government’s policy to disallow dubbed serials or movies in the state to protect the regional cinema and television industry. In his party mouthpiece Saamna on Tuesday, Thackeray said that Karnataka should make an exception and allow the telecast of Satyameva Jayate.  “Karnataka could have allowed the Truth to Prevail (Satyameva Jayate) by allowing its telecast; however, regionalism has come in the way of truth,” Thackeray said in his editorial. He said that he failed to understand the purpose achieved by banning a proactive show such as Satyameva Jayate that was meant for public good. While praising Aamir Khan whose show and movies inspire people and youth towards nationalism, Thackeray also took the opportunity to take potshots at the other big Khan — Shah Rukh. Thackeray opined that Aamir is not unreasonable like Shah Rukh who had no problem with Pakistan cricketers playing in India.Objecting to Shah Rukh’s stand on Pakistani cricketers, Shiv Sena in the past had attempted to stall the screening of his movie — My Name is Khan. “When we tried to stall screening, police were let loose to commit atrocities on Shiv Sena activists and people accused us of being anti-national and attempting to stifle the freedom of speech. Where are crusaders of free speech hiding now when Satyameva Jayate is being banned from telecast in Karnataka,” said Thackeray.
