PUDUCHERRY: The second Additional Sessions Judge T Mohandass has sentenced four persons to life for murdering their brother in 2005.Modan alias Madan Mohan, Ezhilian, Tamilvanan and Pushparaj were also sentenced to one year rigirous imprisonment, fine of `200, and in default simple imprisonment for six months for murdering Sasikumar.He was a real estate businessman and responsible for supporting the family. He decided to separate after he fell in love and got married. Though the family compelled him to provide them with some monetary support, enmity brewed up and this led to murder.Chemical Leak From Lorry Causes FlutterA tanker lorry carrying a chemical was blocked by the public following a spill through an open tap which hit many people here on Tuesday.The tanker was carrying caustic soda and was on its way to Cuddalore from Chennai. The tap on top of the tank somehow got opened and the chemical splashed onto both the sides. The passers-by were also hit by the chemical. A few of them followed the tanker on their bikes and stopped the vehicle. The driver and cleaner of the tanker, however, fled after stopping the lorry. Orleanpet police were informed. Further investigations are on.Woman Accuses Mahe Police of HarassmentK Sunitha, a Mahe resident, has complained of harassment, corruption and indecent behaviour by some policemen in Mahe with regard to issuance of passport.Speaking to newsmen at a press conference on Tuesday, Sunita said she had applied for a passport on June 2, 2011. Subsequently, two officers from Special Branch  called her for police verification and asked her to appear at Mahe Special Branch office with all documents and certificates. When she went to the office with all testimonials, the two asked for `500 each. She expressed her inability to pay the amount at that time. One of the officers  asked her in an indecent way to meet him personally, she alleged. Further, the behaviour and comments were also indecent. When she asked them to stop, the certificates were thrown at her face and she was pushed out of the room, with a statement that she would not get passport unless she satisfied him, said Sunitha. She said that a complaint was filed but nothing happened.
