New Delhi: India's Saketh Myneni recorded one of the biggest wins of the career as he shocked world number 83 Tim Smyczek while Somdev Devvarman battled past Samuel Groth to advance in the Charlottesville ATP Challenger tournament in the United States.

Ranked 313, Myneni upset the local favourite and top seed 6-4 4-6 7-5 in one hour and 55 minutes.

Second seed Somdev, ranked 91, had to fight it out with 192 ranked Australian as he came from behind for a 3-6 6-3 6-4 win in the first round of the USD 75,000 hard court tournament.

It took Somdev, who is known for playing long matches, almost two hours to beat his opponent. The head-to-head record of the two players is now 1-1 as the Australian had defeated Somdev in 2009 in Nottingham.

Somdev is to compete in the doubles event as well with compatriot Sanam Singh. They will take on American wild cards Mitchell Frank and Mac Styslinger in their first round.
