KOCHI: Workers at Homestyle, the interior shop in Oberon Mall where Soumya used to work, feel the verdict was just and apt.“Soumya was an active girl and was very ambitious. Her family was not financially sound. She worked here for three months, right from the opening of this shop. Though this punishment is not an ultimate solution to the problem, we feel justice is done,” said Ajitha, HR Manger, Homestyle. The staff at the shop said they avoided travelling at night, and kept in touch with their parents until they reached home. “Even after this incident the authorities concerned have not taken any steps to ensure the safety of the passengers,” Ajitha said, pointing out the example of a girl who was harassed in a similar manner just after Soumya’s incident. No passenger after alighting the train will bother to go to the guards room and record the complaint.
