THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will be formulated with G C Gopala Pillai as chairman for implementing projects under the National Manufacturing Policy. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters at the post-Cabinet briefing here on Wednesday that the government had plans to take up several projects under the manufacturing sector. He said noted film director K G George would be given `1 lakh as treatment assistance. Vinod Kumar, a Fire and Rescue Service personnel who died during the rescue work at Viyyur in Thrissur district, will be given `5 lakh as solatium. State handball team members, who were attacked during the finals of the national championship held in Chandigarh, would be given `35,000 each.The team was attacked by the Punjab team resulting in the abandoning of the finals. On the question of the alleged corruption in the Travancore Devaswom Board, he said that he had not yet spoken to the Devaswom Minister in this regard.Referring to the row over the implementation of the Kuttanad Package, he said he did not think the difference of opinion with Water Resources Minister P J Joseph and Kodikkunnil Suresh MP would in any way affect the implementation of the package.
