Staff at Bangalore Central Jail harassed

TUMKUR:  The women staffers in Parappana Agrahara jail in Bangalore have lodged a complaint with State Women’s Commission, against the male staffers, including the superintendent. This will be dealt with the help of the Prisons Minister, said C Manjula, State Women’s Commission chairperson.At a seminar on women empowerment organised in Tumkur University, she regretted that the  harassment prevailed from Central jail to universities.She advised the women working in IT-BT sector not to hesitate to lodge a complaint with the commision if they were facing any sexual harassment from the staffers at the work place.The higher education minister has promised stringent action against the accused in universities, particularly in Mysore university’s case, she added. She claimed that she had disposed of 800 out of 1,500 complaints lodged, after she assumed office eight months ago.
