The Uttarakhand government will soon launch a self-employment scheme for the unemployed youngsters of the state by building 3,5000 shops and giving them to the beneficiaries on interest-free loans repayable in ten years.

To be built in clusters of 10 shops each on a piece of land identified by the District Magistrate concerned, each of the shops will be available at a cost of Rs 2 lakh, official sources said in Dehradun on Wednesday.

Eligible beneficiaries will be selected from different sections of society through a random draw of lots, they said.

The allottees will be sanctioned an interest-free loan of Rs 2 lakh each repayable within ten years, they said.

This is the second major scheme being launched by the state government for youngsters registered as unemployed.

The state government is already giving a special employment-cum-skill development allowance to the unemployed youngsters in Uttarakhand.
