THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has said that the government will take strict action against quotation gangs. Those charged with IPC sections 302 and 307 would be listed under the Goonda Act if needed.    Based on the report that there are terrorist, Maoist and extremist hideouts in the Malabar areas where the state shares its border with Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, joint action will be taken to wipe them out, he said briefing the media here on Tuesday after the meeting with top police officers. He said the police will soon start registration of migrant labourers in the state with details, including photograph, address and background information. There were around 10 lakh migrants in the state as per the preliminary information available. “The registration would help identify terrorist infiltrations if any and also help avoid unnecessary harassment of the persons. Those who would provide wrong information would be blacklisted,” he said. “The meeting also discussed the alleged police-criminal nexus and decided to nip it in the bud. Likewise if there is any nexus between the sand mining mafia and the police, strict action would be initiated against them,” Thiruvanchoor said. He also said that the policemen would be directed to keep away from social networking sites using official identity. Stern action would be taken against those who cheat depositors. A state investigation bureau would be established on the lines of the CBI. An internal vigilance system would be developed within the police force and there would be surprise checks on the police stations.“Counselling centres would be started in each district to deal with family dispute cases and a helpline would be set up for the protection of women. To curtail accidents, traffic excellence award would be given,” Thiruvanchoor said. Home Secretary Sajen Peter, DGP Jacob Punnoose, ADGP Mahesh Kumar Singla and IG Manoj Abraham attended the press meet.
