Suicide case: IIT-M girl had married in secret

In a twist in the IIT-Chennai suicide case, M.Tech student Merugu Manasa’s father M Rajesham on Thursday said he was unaware of his daughter’s marriage and got to know only when he went to Chennai to collect her body.

Manasa had married Hyderabad-based software professional Srinivas six months ago and had even registered her husband’s name with the administration at IIT. But some differences had allegedly broken out between the couple.

Meanwhile, Manasa’s body reached her native town of Godavarikhani on Thursday evening. Speaking to mediapersons here, Rajesham blamed Srinivas for his daughter’s death.

According to the girl’s relatives, Manasa, while doing her BTech at Puttaparthi, had fallen in love with Srinivas and had married him six months ago.

It was reported that, three days before her suicide, she had visited Srinivas in Hyderabad and had informed the officials at her college that she was going to her hometown. The case is being investigated by the Chennai police.
