A government surgeon was caught by sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday while allegedly taking Rs 1500 bribe from a patient.
Anil Gupta, a doctor employed with RBM hospital in Bharatpur in Jaipur, was arrested when he was taking a bribe of Rs 1,500 from one Jagan Singh, a piles patient, for performing a surgery, an ACB spokesperson said.
Ironically, the incident happened on "Doctors' Day". Dr Gupta had demanded Rs 1,500 from Singh for performing an operation, the spokesperson said, adding, Singh had paid Rs 1,000 in advance to the surgeon.
Sleuths arrested Gupta from his residence while he was accepting the remaining amount of Rs 500 from the patient, he said.
