Sustainable development is the Key

CHENNAI: There is an urgent need to embed the concept of sustainability all across the field of higher education, including engineering. Several changes had to be brought so that higher education contributes to the cause of sustainability, D K Paliwal, member secretary of National Board of Accreditation (NBA), said on Saturday. Delivering the graduation address at the Anna University here, he said higher education for over a century had promoted the development of leaders of industrial successes. However, their massive creation of output was now seen as unsustainable. “If we wish to avoid a time of turbulent environmental crises, technical education must move to being part of the solution,” he said.
