CHENNAI:  The Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing Development Corporation (TAHDCO), a public sector undertaking of the Govt of Tamil Nadu and IndiaSkills, a vocational training initiative from Manipal Education, India’s leading education and training service provider and City & Guilds (UK) one of the leading provider of work related assessment and qualifications in the world, today announced a tie-up to provide free vocational training to students belonging to the SC/ST communities in the districts of Perambur, Pallavaram and Ambattur.IndiaSkills offers courses in hospitality and retail, both job-oriented courses aimed at improving the learners’ skills. The courses aim at the practical aspects of work which will prepare them for a job  in two of the most promising and fastest growing sectors in the Indian industry. Candidates belonging to the SC/ST community with a total family income under `2 lakh per annum will be eligible to enroll for this course. During the training, learners from Chennai will get a stipend of `500 and those from other districts will get a stipend of `400. There are 50 seats for the Hospitality Course and 250 seats for Retail Course.The courses offered by IndiaSkills training centres are designed to provide a combination of both classroom learning and practical skills, thus maximising their opportunities. The curriculum also ensures that students become efficient from the start. IndiaSkills learners have an excellent record of getting successfully placed with leading retailers like Shoppers Stop, Reliance Retail, Nike, Aditya Birla Retail, Madura Garments and banking advisory giants like Geojit, BNP Paribas, HDFC Bank and ING Vysya Bank. TAHDCO has been performing commendably to empower underprivileged sections across Tamil Nadu. They have trained and made the youth job ready, has ensured a self-sustained growth rather than holding one-off activities. “We at IndiaSkills are delighted to work with TAHDCO to impart  such a kind of training to the learners which will enable them to get a job and be productive in the society,” said Vivek Srinivasan, National Head – Sales & Operations, IndiaSkills.
