HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has finalised the Tata Consulting Engineers Ltd for preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) on the proposed Phase-III of the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project (KDWSP). Of 13 shortlisted agencies, the Tata Consulting Engineers made the lowest bid of Rs 27.50 lakh.Speaking to Express, HMWS&SB officials said that the selected agency should submit the report in three months and basing on which a decision will be taken on taking up the KDWSP Phase-III.Once taken up, the project's third phase is expected to be completed in two years at an estimated cost of Rs 1,800 crore. Land has been acquired at Sunkishala in Nalgonda district.The project aims to supply an additional 90 million gallons of water per day (MGD) to Greater Hyderabad and to the villages along the pipeline route in Nalgonda and Rangareddy districts.The Phase III will help in finding a permanent solution to the looming water crisis being faced in the Greater Hyderabad area. The state government has expressed its keenness for taking up the project on priority basis on par with the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Project which is costing about Rs 3,375 crore.
