HYDERABAD: Tension gripped the NGO's Colony in Vanasthalipuram on Tuesday morning after Telangana supporters tried to obstruct the buses that were transporting employees to the Secretariat. Telangana activists broke the window panes of a couple of buses while the police caned them away leading to tension.
Trouble began at around 9.15 a.m when a group of government employees, who reportedly hail from nonTelangana region, reached the NGO's Colony bus stand from where special buses were being run to the Secretariat. Ever since the RTC employees joined the Sakala Janula Samme, buses were being run with police escort for the employees to reach the Secretariat. As the employees were about to board the buses, local TRS leaders and supporters, who reached there asked the employees to boycott duties and join the strike.

``We appealed to them not to attend work. Majority of the employees left the place but the police prevailed upon the employees to get into the buses assuring protection to them,'' TRS Ranga Reddy district secretary M Kiran Kumar Goud said.

Police took several agitators into custody and shifted them to Meerpet and Hayathnagar police stations. Meanwhile, more protesters reached Vanasthalipuram police station and staged a dharna demanding release of the arrested leaders. They withdrew protest after the ir leaders were let off.
