HYDERABAD: The High Court on Wednesday upheld the decision of the state government in imposing the condition that only candidates who have studied three out of the four levels (SSC, Intermediate, degree and postgraduation) in English medium are eligible for the post of principal, and two levels for PGT (PG teacher) and TGT (trained graduate teacher) posts in model schools. The Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan has issued a notification for filling 7,100 posts, which included 355 principals, 4,615 PGTs and 2,130 TGTs for 355 schools in the state. The written test is scheduled on Thursday.Several Telugu medium aspirants for the posts had challenged the English medium study before the HC and a single judge granted an interim direction for receiving applications from all the eligible candidates, irrespective of their medium of study. The state moved an appeal before the division bench, which set aside the single judge order, while asking the registry to place all the related writ petitions before another single judge and to dispose them off before the written test on Thursday. After hearing rguments of both sides, Justice Vilas V Afzulpurkar dismissed plea of the Telugu medium candidates to be allowed to compete for the posts.
