HYDERABAD: The High Court on Thursday directed the authorities to allow all the Telugu-medium candidates who have received hall-tickets for the posts of principal and post- graduate teachers (PGT) in the model schools which will start functioning from this new academic year.A vacation bench comprising justices G Chandraiah and N Ravi Shankar was dealing with writ appeals filed by several Telugu medium candidates challenging the order of a single judge dismissing their plea to allow them to sit for the examination.The single judge, while dismissing all writ petitions on Wednesday, upheld the decision of the government to impose the condition that the candidates who had studied three levels in English medium are eligible for the post of principal and two levels for PGT and TGT posts in the model schools.The examination for selection of Trained Graduate Teachers was held on Thursday and the tests for selection of principals and PGTs are to be held on Friday and Saturday but the Friday’s test has been postponed. There was no mention in the order about the Telugu-medium candidates who lost the opportunity to write the TGT test on Thursday.The bench ruled that the candidates who  received hall-tickets to be allowed for the examination and declaration of the results will be subject to the final verdict in the case. The bench posted the matter for hearing after summer vacation.In all, there are 7,100 posts _ 2,130 TGT, 4,615 PGT and 355 principal _ in 355 model schools. As many as 1.02 lakh candidates, includding about 2,500 who studied in Telugu medium, applied for the posts.
