The Zing factor
Bengaluru boys give the country its first student community network site.

Move over Facebook, hello Zingitt. Founded by Pranav Manpuria, a 17-year-old Bangalorean, Zingitt.com, a social network built exclusively for students, is ready to take the country by storm.

Zingitt is different from the usual social networking sites in that it aims to gives students a platform to have a good time while simultaneously encouraging work and academics through interactivity. Thus Zingitt’s tagline -‘Fun, work, together at last’- captures the essence of the site.

Same but different Zingitt started off as a hobby for Manpuria, but is now a fully functional site for people to interact, add pictures, videos, make music playlists and much more. You can even play games like F1 racing. It is also user friendly.

“We’re all about simplicity and getting things done quickly,” says Manpuria, adding that cyber safety was another factor he wanted to ensure. “I wanted people of my age to be able to use a social network without the fear of invasion of privacy. That’s why we have only user-controlled privacy settings.”

Coming soon

In its second month, Zingitt is already 500 members strong and counting. Rahul Nathan, 17, chief designer, says that they’re focusing on students right now, “We’ll soon have a section for scholarships, internships and a Q&A section where students can get any queries answered by experts.”

To add to that, a Zingitt app is already active for the Android platform and will be available for the iOS platform soon.
