CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has directed the TNEB to comply within four weeks with the orders of a single judge, who had directed the Board to reinstate a 24-year-old widow, appointed earlier on compassionate grounds.   “What had gone wrong with the officials at the helm of affairs and why they had made the life of the poor widow a misery is a question that is hovering in our minds,’’ a division bench of Justices Elipe Dharma Rao and R Subbiah observed recently.Following the death of her husband in 2005, who worked as wireman, K Uthayalakshmi was appointed as helper in the Udumalpet Electricity division in June, 2006, on compassionate grounds. At the time of appointment, she produced her VIII standard certificate. The appointment was made after verification. However, following a complaint that her certificate was not bona fide, she was dismissed from service in August, 2010. She moved the Madras HC and a single judge on July 15 this year quashed the dismissal order.
