HYDERABAD: The Telangana Joint Action Committee of Employees, Teachers and Workers, which is launching protest programmes on August 1 as part of the general strike, has served a fresh ultimatum to people's representatives from the region demanding that they resign once again by August 6.Speaking to reporters here on Friday after the meeting of the TNGOs' Central Union, its president K Swamy Goud warned the people's representatives against taking advantage of the general strike of employees and dillydallying on resignations in the name of discussions with their party high command. He said employees were playing their part in the Telangana movement but cannot run the entire movement on their own. “People's representatives should stop being mute spectators and all political parties should announce their action plan for achieving the separate Telangana state immediately. They cannot make employees scapegoats by indulging in useless discussions with the Centre which is not keen on taking a firm decision on Telangana,” he said.Union general secretary G Devi Prasad Rao said employees from the Telangana region were being forced to go on a general strike as they were denied many job and promotion opportunities in the united state.“Some persons with vested interests are approaching the court stating that employees did not have a right to strike.Have these so-called intellectuals ever bothered about us when we were denied our rightful jobs and promotions? When they have not fought for or filed a PIL for protection of our rights, they do not have right to approach courts or pressurise the government to prevent us from going on strike,” Rao said. The TNGO Central Union has decided to meet all the people's representatives and request them to submit their resignations to the Speaker once again and come out in support of the strike. They also demanded that the government conduct the examinations for the sub-inspector of police posts only after the central government removed Clause 14 (f) from the Presidential Order.
