Panaji: The sixth edition of South Asian Film Festival (SAFF), an annual event organised by the South Asia Foundation (SAF) will focus on 'Dissolving Boundaries' spreading the message of togetherness and oneness among South Asian countries.

The organisers said the four-day festival to be held in Goa between September 15-18, will screen more than 50 films from all South Asian countries, including India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

Classic Films, Short Films, Documentary Films, Mainstream and Popular Films and also premiere of two films will be showcased in the fest.

"The South Asian Film Festival will pay tribute to two stalwarts of the South Asian Film Industry. Legendary actor 'Shammi Kapoor' has made immense contribution to Indian Cinema and as a mark of respect to the celebrated actor, a special screening of his film 'Kashmir Ki Kali' would be showcased, in presence of Sharmila Tagore," the organizers said.

Bangladeshi filmmaker, Tareque Masud, who passed away recently in a tragic road accident, will also be paid tribute at SAFF-2011. Tareque was the first Bangladeshi filmmaker, who was recognised by the Cannes Film Festival. He was also one of the two key witnesses of the International War Crime Tribunal and was involved in documenting every minute detail of Bangladesh Liberation Movement and the repression it had faced.

SAFF-2011, will also showcase the brilliant cinematic journey of Sharmila Tagore, starting her career with the great Satyajit Ray's 'Apur Sansar' to 'Life goes on' directed by Kolkata born, London-based director Sangeeta Dutta.

It will be a perfect blend of South Asian cinema, from 'Apur Sansar' to 'Bodyguard' and heart-wrenching love story 'Meherjaan' from Bangladesh, directed by Bangladesh born Rubaiyat Hossain, presently making films in her country beating all odds and adversaries.

Rubaiyat will also share her part of the story at SAFF, the organisers said.
