Truck driver robbed of Rs 22 lakh

Armed robbers stopped a Panipat-bound truck in the Rasoolpur village in Meerut and looted Rs 22 lakh from its driver, police said on Sunday.

The money was given to the driver by a businessman from Amroha district, and it was to be handed over to a party in Panipat, SP (Rural) M M Baig said.

The truck driver and cleaner sustained minor injuries during the loot that took place late on Saturday night, he said.

Baig further said both of them are also quizzed to investigate whether they were part of the loot plan.
