New Delhi: A major accident was averted after two trains from Delhi Metro’s new batch of 504 Hyundai Rotem series were stopped on their tracks after a minor collision took place at Kalindi Kunj Depot on Friday, reports said.
The trains collided at 3:45 pm at the upcoming 38.235 km Magenta Line‘s Kalindi Kunj Depot from where trial runs are underway.
A train, which was under complete control of Hyundai Rotem for commissioning, was moved perhaps inadvertently in reverse direction by the ROTEM staff on Line-8 at Kalindi Kunj Depot.
Delhi Metro said responsibility for the incident is of ROTEM and prima-facie it appears to be negligence on part of the Rotem staff.
Rotem has ordered an internal inquiry for the causes of the accident if a signaling error was responsible for the near-accident is yet to be known.
The magenta line will reportedly be the first circuit on the Delhi Metro where the new ‘driverless’ trains will operate, The Indian Express said.
