Two held for selling adulterated honey

The accused, Biki Singh (25) of Rajabasa under Baripada town police limits and Debashish Singh (35) of Kukudihi village under Suliapada police limits, have been remanded in judicial custody.Police said the duo had been preparing adulterated honey and selling with the label of Dabur company. Over 500 bottles of 100-gm and 1,000 bottles of 50-gm honey were seized from their possession along with forged stickers and labels.Sources said the sales officials of Dabur Honey Company suspected about such a unit after they were flooded with complaints regarding poor quality of honey.Following the complaints, the investigating officer of the company, B K Sinha, initiated a local inquiry and intimated the police about the fraudulent units.Acting on a tip off, two teams, led by Baripada Town police station IIC Sampad Kumar Panigrahi, raided the units at Baripada and Suliapada. The accused, however, said a group of traders from West Bengal had provided them with bottles, stickers and labels and they were just packing it at a cost of Rs 2 to Rs 3 per bottle.
