HYDERABAD: The uncertainty over reopening of schools and colleges in Telangana from Monday, after Dasara holidays, continues as Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman M Kodandaram asked all the educational institutions in the region to remain shut until the Centre makes a positive statement for creation of separate Telangana. The educational institutions have remained closed for about 10 days from Sept 16 before Dasara holidays were declared from Sept 27 to Oct 9. Though there was a possibility of availing holidays by joining duty on Sept 26, following the request by the state government, teachers and lecturers stayed away from duties.Following the requests made by some parents’ organisations, it was expected that teachers would join duties on Oct 10. Else, parents feared that students in Telangana will stand to lose their academic year even as their counterparts in other parts of the state are nearing completion of the syllabus giving them ample time for revision. However, the TJAC’s latest request to educational institutions disappointed parents and also students who are missing their academic activity.Minister for secondary education K Parthasaradi requested all organisations participating in the strike to cooperate with the government to reopen the schools and colleges in Telangana as students might miss the national-level entrance tests if the Intermediate examinations were delayed in the state.
