Unconscious Python Resurrected Using Artificial Respiration In Karnataka
The python crawled its way out of the forest into the nearby Santeguli village and got stuck in a wired fence laid down by the villagers to prevent the entry of wild animals.

Even among the most avid animal lovers, snakes aren’t exactly the most popular animals out there. Most people find them despicable and repulsive in appearance, not to mention how dangerous they can be. Many would not go within a certain radius of a snake, let alone a python but two forest officers have been in the news for resurrecting an unconscious python through artificial respiration.

This news comes out of the town of Kumta in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. Kumta is close to the tropical forests in the region and is home to many kinds of snakes and reptiles that often come out of their natural habitat and venture into places populated by humans.

The python crawled its way out of the forest into the nearby Santeguli village and got stuck in a wired fence laid down by the villagers to prevent the entry of wild animals. The snake not only got stuck on the fence but also lost consciousness. The villagers immediately informed the forest department about the python stuck in the fence and forest department personnel Rajesh and Mahesh rushed to the spot after hearing the news.

Getting the python out of the fence and rescuing it was easy, but the serpent was not breathing. Immediate resuscitation was needed before rescuing it. Rajesh and Mahesh then made do with the tools and objects they could find in the village and arranged artificial respiration for the snake. Putting their own lives at risk, they breathed into a straw and a pipe alternatively, while putting the other end into the snake’s mouth. Soon after, the python came back to life and started breathing. The process of artificial respiration took almost 30 minutes. The python was then released into the forest while the villagers unanimously praised the two forest personnel.
